Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 November 2026.
This policy covers the Fifti app (app.getfifti.com) and this website (getfifti.com), including the waitlist, for everyone who uses them, wherever they live. The last sections add what the law requires in some places: the EU, the EEA and the UK, the United States, Canada, Latin America and Israel.
Who is responsible
Fifti is run by Jonathan Menahem, an individual in Israel, who is responsible (the "controller") for the personal data described here, and who answers questions about it. Contact: support@getfifti.com.
The short version
- We collect what it takes to run shared expense groups: your account, and what you and your group members enter.
- The people in a group see what is entered in that group. Other users don't.
- No ads, no tracking cookies, and we never sell or share your data for advertising.
- We email only people who have an account. Someone you add who isn't on Fifti hears about it from you.
- A receipt, bill or menu you choose to scan is read by an AI service (Anthropic), which does not train on it. With the paid smart features on, so are photos you attach to a new expense, and a new expense's description, shop and amount, to pick its category.
- What you type to Splittie, the in-app helper, is answered by the same AI service, with a short summary of your groups and balances. Splittie suggests: it never saves or sends anything for you.
- You can download all your data, or delete your account, in the app at any time.
What we collect
Your account. Your name and email address, and if you add them, a phone number and a profile photo. Your settings: language, default currency, notification choices and, in Hebrew, how the app addresses you. Sign-in goes through Google's Firebase Authentication: with Google, we receive your name, email address and profile photo from Google (the photo becomes your photo in Fifti, which you can change or remove); with a password, the password goes to Firebase only, and we never see or store it. During the private beta we also note how your account was opened (for example, through a group's invite link or an invite code). We also note when you accepted the Terms.
What you and your groups enter. Groups and their settings, members, expenses (amounts, currencies, dates, descriptions, categories, notes, who paid and how it is split, itemised lines), payments between members and how they were made, comments, recurring expenses, budgets, and each group's activity history. Orders placed together: the place, its menu and prices, who's in, each person's dishes and note, and who paid. Notes are seen by everyone in the group, so please don't write health details, such as allergies, in them. Files you attach, such as receipt photos and PDFs: when a photo is uploaded we remove its location and camera details (EXIF).
People who aren't on Fifti yet. A group member can add someone by name, or by email address, before that person has an account, so expenses can include them. We keep that name (and the email address, if given) in the group. We email that person only if the address already has a Fifti account (a notice that they were added); otherwise the member who added them can send them their own link. When they sign up, they take over that place in the group. If this happened to you and you'd like it removed, ask the group or write to us.
When you use the app. Technical data such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the time of each request, used to run the service, keep it secure and limit abuse. If you turn on notifications, the address your browser's push service gives us. If something fails, a technical error report that leaves out your name, email address, IP address and the content of your groups.
When you contact us. Messages you send from the app's Help & feedback screen, with the technical details you chose to include (app version, the screen you came from, your device and the last error), and emails you send us.
When you buy a plan. The plan, its dates and allowance use, the amount, currency and country, and the payment provider's reference for the purchase. Paddle, the seller of every plan, collects the payment details and a billing address where tax rules need one, and runs fraud checks; we never see your full card number. Paddle handles the purchase data it collects as a separate controller, under its own privacy notice.
On this website. If you join the waitlist: your email address, the language of the page and the time. Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and doesn't follow you to other sites: it records the page, the site you came from, your browser and device type, your country and how fast the page loaded, and we see only totals. It runs on getfifti.com only, not in the app.
Why we use it, and the legal basis
- To provide Fifti (accounts, groups, balances, orders, notifications, and the emails you need, such as address confirmation and password reset): to perform our agreement with you (the Terms).
- To read a receipt you choose to scan, to run the smart features you have on, and to answer what you ask Splittie: to perform our agreement with you.
- To sell plans, and keep the records tax law requires: to perform our agreement with you, and to meet our legal obligations.
- To keep Fifti secure and working (checks that a sign-up is a person, rate limits, error reports, the administrator's log): our legitimate interest in a safe, reliable service.
- To understand how Fifti is used and make it better: we record the first time your account takes a few steps (confirming your email, joining a group, adding an expense, inviting someone, opening the plans, paying) and the weeks you use the app, never what you enter, and we look at them only as totals. No outside analytics service is involved: our legitimate interest in improving Fifti.
- To answer your messages and support requests: our agreement with you, and our legitimate interest in helping.
- To tell someone who already has an account that a member added them to a group: the legitimate interest of that member, and ours, in letting them join. At most 30 such notices a day per member.
- Waitlist and push notifications: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To meet legal obligations, and to respond to lawful requests from authorities.
We don't use your data for advertising, we don't sell it or share it for advertising, and we don't make decisions about you by automated means that have legal or similarly significant effects. Before we start any new kind of use, we'll update this policy.
Receipt scanning
When you ask Fifti to scan a receipt, the image is sent to Anthropic, the maker of Claude, which reads the items and totals; the result only pre-fills the expense for you to check. Anthropic processes the image on our behalf, does not use it to train its models, and deletes it within 30 days (longer only if its systems flag it as breaking its usage policy). The photo stays attached to the expense in your group. We keep a record of each scan (its result and size) to follow cost and accuracy. Nothing is scanned unless you ask, or have automatic scanning on.
Bills and menus. A bill or menu you choose to scan is handled like a receipt. A bill can show your name, address and account numbers: they reach Anthropic with the image, and what it reads only pre-fills the expense for you to check.
Bills forwarded by email. A group with Plus can have a private email address. When a member forwards a bill to it, Cloudflare receives the message and passes it to us. We check that it really comes from that member's account address, and keep only the PDFs and photos attached: never the text of the message or its subject. The file waits in the group, where its members can see it, until someone saves it as an expense or dismisses it. It goes to Anthropic only when someone opens it to read it. One nobody opens is deleted after 30 days. Any member can replace the address or turn it off.
Monthly statements and reminders. For ongoing groups with Plus, Fifti sums up the month for the group's members and keeps that summary with the group. It reminds people who owe, in the app and by push, on statement day and 3 and 7 days later; each person can turn reminders off. A member can also share a read-only statement link with someone in the group: anyone who has the link can open it for 30 days and see that person's share of the group's expenses and who they owe, and a group owner can turn the links off.
Smart features. They come with a paid plan, start on, and each can be switched off in Profile, for all your groups, or in a group's settings, for that group only. Automatic scanning scans a photo you attach to a new expense, as if you had tapped Scan. AI categories: for a description your group hasn't filed before, the expense's description, shop name and amount, and your group's category names, are sent to Anthropic, which picks one of those categories for you to keep or change. Anthropic handles these on the same terms as receipt photos. We keep only a count of these requests, not what they contained.
Splittie, the in-app helper. What you type to Splittie is sent to Anthropic's Claude with the conversation so far, a short summary of your own groups (with their members' names), friends and balances (names and amounts), the screen you opened it on (in a group, that group's amounts) and, if you asked about one, the error message the app showed you, so it can answer; Anthropic processes it on our behalf and doesn't train on it. Its suggested questions about your balances are answered inside the app, without sending anything. From what you type, Splittie can fill in an expense for you to check, or write a message to someone who owes you money; nothing is saved or sent unless you save the expense or send the message yourself. It also points out, without AI, a payment waiting for your confirmation or a trip that ended with money still open. We don't keep your conversations: only counts (questions answered each day, expenses filled in and reminders written each month). "Talk to a person" sends the conversation to our support team as a Help message.
Who can see your data
- Members of a group see everything entered in it: the members' names and photos, expenses, payments, orders, comments, files and the activity history. They also see your phone number, if you added one, so they can send you reminders and messages on WhatsApp and, in Israel, pay you with Bit or PayBox. The app asks for it after you sign up and when you join a group; you can skip it, and change or remove it in Profile.
- People who share a group with you, now or in the past, can find you by name in search and see your email address there. Nobody else can: the app never shows whether an email address or phone number has an account.
- Anyone with a group's invite link can see, before joining, the group's name and emoji, how many people are in it, and the first name of whoever invited them.
- Other users can't see a group's contents. Fifti's administrator and the AI tool used to run the service (Anthropic's Claude) have technical access to the systems that hold them, and use it only when needed to run the service or answer a support request. Actions in the admin console are logged, and at most three people have access to the production database.
Service providers
These companies process data for us, only on our instructions and under data processing terms:
- Google Cloud: hosting, the database and file storage, in Belgium (the EU region europe-west1).
- Google Firebase Authentication: sign-in. It may process data outside the EU, including in the United States.
- Cloudflare: delivering and protecting the website and the app (including the Turnstile check on sign-up and password reset), receiving bills forwarded by email, storing the waitlist in the EU, and visit counts on getfifti.com.
- Anthropic: scanning receipts, bills and menus, AI categories, Splittie's answers and the AI tool used to run the service, in the United States.
- Resend: sending our emails, from its EU region.
- Sentry: error reports, in its EU region (Germany).
- Your browser's push service (for example Google, Apple or Mozilla): delivers the notifications you turned on, encrypted.
Paddle is not a processor but the seller of record for every purchase, responsible for that data itself (see "When you buy a plan").
Data across borders. Your data is stored in the EU and some providers work in the United States. An encrypted backup copy is also kept in Israel, on equipment run by Fifti's operator, so the service can be restored if Google Cloud ever fails: it's encrypted before it's stored, and opening it needs a key kept outside Google Cloud. Where data leaves the EU, the EEA or the UK, the transfer is covered by the European Commission's standard contractual clauses (with the UK addendum) or, where the provider is certified, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension. For data collected in Israel, transfers abroad follow the Privacy Protection (Transfer of Data to Databases Abroad) Regulations: to countries whose law protects personal data, or under the recipient's written commitment to protect it. From other countries, we rely on the safeguards their law requires, such as standard contractual clauses. The EU recognises Israel as providing adequate protection for personal data.
Exchange rates come from public sources and involve no personal data. We may also disclose data when the law requires it or to protect someone's safety or rights, and if Fifti passes to a new owner, this policy goes with it.
How long we keep it
- Your account and groups: while your account exists. Orders stay with their group, like its expenses.
- When you delete your account: your name, email address, phone number, photo, sign-in, devices, notifications, order answers, messages to support and private uploads are deleted. What you entered in groups with other people stays there under "Deleted user", so their balances don't change. Groups only you were in are deleted completely.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires (in Israel, seven years), also after you delete your account.
- A bill forwarded by email that nobody opened: deleted after 30 days. An account whose email address was never confirmed: deleted after 7 days; what it entered in groups with other people stays there, under "Deleted user".
- Backups: kept for 7 days, plus 7 days of recovery logs, so deleted data leaves the backups within about two weeks. The copy in Israel is replaced every night, and each night's copy is kept 7 days.
- Server logs: up to 30 days. Error reports: up to 90 days.
- Messages to support: up to two years, or until you delete your account.
- The first steps your account took, and the weeks you used the app: the weeks for 13 months; both until you delete your account.
- Places held for people not on Fifti yet: until they're taken, the group removes them, or the group is deleted.
- The waitlist: until we invite you, then 30 days after the invitation email, or until you ask us to delete it. An address invited during the private beta stays on the sign-up list for 12 months.
Cookies and storage on your device
The app uses one cookie, __Host-fifti_session, which keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary, lasts 30 days from your last use and is deleted when you sign out. The app also keeps your settings and a copy of your data on your device, so it works offline; signing out clears it. Cloudflare Turnstile, on sign-up and password reset, may use similar storage only to check that you are a person. There are no advertising or tracking cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner.
Security
Connections are encrypted (HTTPS), and data is encrypted at rest by Google Cloud. On top of that, the app encrypts names, descriptions, notes, comments and the other text you enter, and the files you upload, before they're stored, with a key protected by Google Cloud's key management service. Without that key, this text and these files can't be read from a copy of the database, a backup or file storage. Amounts, dates, currencies, settings and internal IDs aren't encrypted this way, because the service works with them directly, for example to calculate balances. This protects stored copies: the service still opens this data to show it to you and your group, and what's written under "Who can see your data" still applies. Passwords stay with Firebase. Your session can be ended on every other device from Profile. Files are reachable only by members of their group. No system is perfectly secure: if you find a problem, please tell us at support@getfifti.com. If a breach is likely to affect you, we'll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can see your data and take a copy (Profile, "Download my data"), correct it (Profile), and delete your account (Profile, "Delete account"). You can also object to uses based on our legitimate interests, ask us to restrict them, and withdraw your consent at any time. For anything else, write to support@getfifti.com; we answer within 30 days, or sooner where the law requires, and may first need to confirm it's you. We won't treat you differently for using your rights. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Fifti is not meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect data about children under 16. If you believe an account belongs to someone under 16, tell us. A report alone never closes an account: we ask the account holder first, and delete the account only if we conclude it belongs to a child.
If you're in the EU, the EEA or the UK
The GDPR (and in the UK, the UK GDPR) gives you the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable format (the download is a JSON file), and to withdraw consent. The legal bases are listed above. You can complain to the supervisory authority where you live or work, for example the ICO in the UK.
If you're in the United States
This section is our notice under the California Consumer Privacy Act and similar state laws.
- What we collected in the last 12 months: identifiers (name, email address, phone number, IP address); customer records; commercial information (plans bought); internet activity (how you use the app, for running and securing it); photos and files you upload. Sources: you, the members of your groups, your browser and device, Google (if you sign in with it) and Paddle. Purposes: those listed above.
- Selling and sharing: we don't sell personal information and don't share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, and never have, including for anyone under 16. Because there's nothing to opt out of, we treat a Global Privacy Control signal as already honoured.
- Sensitive information: your sign-in is handled by Firebase, and we don't use sensitive personal information to infer anything about you.
- Disclosures: we disclose personal information for business purposes only to the service providers listed above.
- Your rights: to know and access what we hold, to delete it, to correct it, and not to be treated differently for asking. You or an agent you authorise can ask at support@getfifti.com; we'll verify the request. If we decline, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and if your state gives you the right, contact its attorney general.
If you're in Canada
Under PIPEDA and provincial laws, including Quebec's, you can access and correct your data and withdraw consent. The person in charge of protecting personal information is Jonathan Menahem (support@getfifti.com). Your data is stored outside Canada (in the EU, with some providers in the United States), where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. You can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or, in Quebec, the Commission d'accès à l'information.
If you're in Latin America
Depending on where you live, data protection law (such as Brazil's LGPD, Mexico's federal personal data law, Argentina's Law 25,326, Colombia's Law 1581 of 2012, and the laws of Chile, Peru and other countries) gives you the right to confirm that we hold your data, to access, correct and update it, to have unnecessary data anonymised, blocked or deleted, to receive it in a portable format, to know who we share it with, to oppose its use, and to withdraw consent. In Mexico these are your ARCO rights. Write to support@getfifti.com to use them. You can also complain to your country's data protection authority, such as Brazil's ANPD, Argentina's Agency for Access to Public Information or Colombia's Superintendence of Industry and Commerce. Your data is stored in the EU, with some providers in the United States, under the safeguards described in "Data across borders".
If you're in Israel
Under the Privacy Protection Law you have the right to review your data and to ask for it to be corrected or deleted. You aren't legally required to give us any data, but without a name and an email address we can't open an account. The data is used to run Fifti as this policy describes, and is stored abroad (in the EU) under the regulations on transfers to databases abroad. You can complain to the Privacy Protection Authority.
Changes
We'll publish changes on this page with a new date. Before a significant change applies, we'll tell you in the app or by email.
- Google Firebase Authentication:
Commission d'accès à l'information.

- Tu cuenta y tus grupos: mientras exista tu cuenta.
